Hello folks,

I am one of those damned-souls that is exceedingly sensitive to noise from electronics, and I know the XDR display has two internal fans (barely "internal", actually, given the latticework). The thought-bubble in my head: "Great, two more fans 18" from my face! I'll never be able to live with this thing!"

Anyway, some of you out there will start receiving them soon, and I'd love to hear your experience with them.

Before we get into a "it's dead silent!" vs. "it's like fingernails on a chalk-board!" fight, my tongue-in-cheek rule is that only fussy, obsessive-compulsive types with extraordinary hearing, sitting in an acoustically-dampened cave a mile underground, with no other ambient noise sources, are allowed to respond. Among the questions of interest:

* Do the fans turn non-stop, or only when HDR is going full-blast?
* What is the sound level and character of the fan noise?

Thank you. :)

My Display Pro XDR hasn't shipped yet but I can report that the new Mac Pro doesn't produce any perceivable fan noise, very impressive.

It is literally silent. I can’t hear anything even with full brightness and playing HDR content. I’ve been using it for 6 hours and still nothing. I work in a closed office with very very low ambient noise so this isn’t getting lost in background noise.

I have the same question! But let me ask it differently...

Can anyone tell me, on the Apple Pro Display XDR, if you turn the brightness to a low enough setting, will the fans turn off or continue spinning?

I run mine at 100% all the time and I’ve never heard the fans.
