Xee not free (and Open Source) anymore :-( Alternatives?

I've been using Xee for years but do not recall very frequent updates. Why not keep using an older version if you don't want to pay for the new one?

On the other hand, $4.50 is very reasonable considering how often I use this little app.

too late. Already bought in App Store.

In earlier version of Xee you can browse trough images only using Scroll wheel.

Now you need Shift key + Scroll wheel. Howto restore old behavior?
