Xfinity esim acitvation but I never signed up

Just got a message on my iPhone that an esim was ready to be setup. even took me to a continue screen. I canceled out of it but how could this have happened. I never signed up for anything?

I did not call them nor did I call Verizon but I did find some more info on reddit and it seems this has been happening for awhile. no reason given. no remedy. just random esims trying to be activated on phones. sure they could be by accident but if thats the case I would hope apple could put some sorta safeguard that wouldn't allow this.
