Just bought a razor x egpu case and I’m looking for a card to put in.
The egpu will be plugged into my MBP 2019 Touch Bar.
Having a look around the AMD rx580 seems to be within my budget and the XFX RX 580 GTS Black Edition appears to be the better of the rx580 range.
My question is though, does the card need to be just the AMD Radeon RC580 to work or can it be a variant like the one mentioned above.
Many thanks

If you plan on running bootcamp, getting an AMD card to work is more of a hassle. I have a Blackmagic EGPU and it immediately worked on Macos. I also have a razer core x with a 1080 in it and it works flawlessly with bootcamp by just downloading Nvidia drivers.

The Blackmagic EGPU with the 580 Pro is slower than my 5500M in Windows too.

Any Vega card/ Newer RX cards should work with MacOS natively.
