I use AutoCAD everyday at work on an Bootcamp partition running Windows XP. We used to have a novell server and everything worked fine... recently my company "upgraded" to Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. Now my computer does not connect properly when running the Windows OS. When in OS X I can see the network drive and connect to it without a hitch... in Windows I cannot access the network at all.

Note: the IT dept. feels that it is because my computer is an Apple... however there are plenty of other PC workstations in the office having problems with the new server...

Has anyone had any trouble getting a Mac running Windows XP to connect to Msft. SBS 2003?? Or is this just a typical problem with SBS 2003 and Windows in general? Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. m.

    Get a new IT department

I'm going to guess that your IT department left behind some Novell stuff in the networking stack.

I have Mac's and XP's hanging off of SBS 2003 just fine.

In the system panel, under computer name, does it have the domain name of the SBS box there? click on network ID and ensure that the computer is joined to the domain.

in the tcp/ip stack you only need client for microsoft. If there is a client for novell, get rid of it.

Your IT department is lame. Your system should hang off a SBS network perfectly.

    Working now...

This weekend I had to remove my windows partition and re-partition, re-install etc. but it seams to be working now.

What is funny is that now the 'IT' guys computer will not connect to the network... and several other PCs are still having trouble too.

I do not understand the switch... everything was working perfectly under Novell.
