I'm waiting on a 17" MBP, and I'm looking to buy either XP or Vista for gaming purposes and possibly an external Blu Ray player. Any recommendations for either XP or Vista? Thanks

I'm going to have to say Vista x64, because it's the only one that will use all your hardware. XP and Vista x32 will only be able to use <3gb of your 4gb of ram, while Vista x64 (and Mac OS) will be able to use the whole amount.

Vista is an excellent OS IMO. Been using it on my PC with absolutely no issues for quite a while now.

If you are considering Vista, then to wait for Windows 7.
i am no big fan of windows anymore, but my background people who work with software alot says wait for 7 instead of going Vista.

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I had read up on the late-2008 model 17 inch MBP (at least I thought I did) and could have sworn that model computer could only run 32-bit Windows. Has this changed with the new 17 inch MBP?

I am asking because I bought the late-2008 model (and loaded Vista 32 on it) but had a hardware issue with the computer and now Apple is replacing it with a brand new 17 inch MBP. I'd love to be able to load Vista 64-bit on there!

note: I'd stick with Vista because I already bought it and money is tight.

Any Core 2 Duo MacBook or MacBook Pro can run 64 bit Windows, though I believe that Apple only provides the bootcamp drivers for early 2008 and later models.

i wanted to know this as well. but i just want windows for a few small video programs vdub, etc and few others. what programs are even compatable with windows 7 since its so new?
