To access my work computer from home I need to connect to my company's VPN and then remote desktop connection to my workstation. Is it possible to connect to the VPN (requires ActiveX to connect) using IE on XP through parallels and have OS X use that connection and then remote desktop connect using the mac version instead of remote desktop connection of the XP version?

    Remote Desktop Error

I think I have a similar question that I hope you might be able to solve.

I use a similar technique to access my work pc.

I use Cisco VPN while running Parallels with Windows XP Pro.

I can tunnel in successfully to my work's firewall using the file provided by my office. I receive the confirmation of a Locked icon on my task bar.

Then when I try to connect to my pc through Remote Desktop in Windows XP I receive the error: "The specified remote computer could not be found."

I have already verified my Computer Name, User Name and Password is correct.

Are their any settings I need to make on my Mac. (Maybe thru System Pref)

I am using the new Aluminum iMac running OS X Leopard.

I am also using the Airport Express Base Station.

I am successfully accessing the Internet through the Parallels Virtual Windows XP with no problem.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Regards,

Are you trying to use the IP or the host name of the remote PC? If you haven't tried the IP address, give it a try.

    Logged Into Work Successfully!!!

I tried my Computer Name as well as my IP Address.

I was able to download the Cisco VPN Client and the Mac Remote Desktop Connection.

After installing both of these applications, it worked Flawlessly.

I finally made progress and able to see my work pc at about 11:30pm.

It's funny, I seem to do my best work towards the end of the night.

Thanks for your help and assistance.

I have provided both of the links I used to gain access to my work pc for anyone's reference.

I hope this may help someone.
