Thanks MRU...did they give a release date or what carriers they will be on?
I have never had a Sony phone and want to try one. But it has to be a Verizon phone.

as tbarygs say's it'll likely be July/August here in Europe and August/September USA

In light of the z4 announcement, I think I'll give the z3 a shot.

I have a z3, recently switched from an older galaxy. It's bigger than I expected, but isn't awkwardly big and has a good weight to it - it feels solid (especially compared to the galaxy I had).

Battery life is truly amazing.

Quite glad I chose that over the S6.

Only said expected release in Japan this summer. My guess would be released in Europe sometime in the fall. North America? Who knows if we'll even see it.

It certainly looks like a very mild update to the Z3 but if someone values expandable memory and wants a waterprood device, this is certainly an option. The camera is pretty good and the last few Xperia Z models have shown very good battery performance, although like he S6, this model has a smaller battery compared to its predecessor thanks to Sony slimming it down even further. Supposedly it will have a waterproof USB port so no pain in the ass flap to deal with.
Thanks Tbayrgs. I would like to try a Sony phone sometime. They always have great battery life and mange to keep the SD card and add some water proofing. But who knows........Sony's road map and communication leave a lot to be desired.

What a bizarre "update"!

Probably worse battery life than the Z3, and no OIS (even though Samsung uses a Sony sensor with OIS).

What the heck are Sony doing?

I had been assuming a Z4 with OIS and excellent battery life would be my next phone. Now I guess I'll be looking elsewhere.

Lol at people who only look into battery capacity
For instance, Z3 has lower battery capacity than Z2 but better battery life overall
What it does matter its optimization, Sony has lightweight and fast interface and a great battery life power saving mode called Stamina
Z4 might be only addressed for japan market

This is the Sony phone I'd be interested in.

Certainly may be but, except for running stock Android, ticks all the boxes I'm interested in.

Same here. Main things I want in a phone:

* 2 day battery life
* 5-5.2" screen in a compact form factor (z3/z4 are a bit large to be ideal for me)
* Optical image stabilisation

GS6 fails on the battery life. If real, I think this would be the first phone to have all this. I do find the band on the bottom a bit ugly, but would put up with that.
