Hey guys,

So I use XQuartz on a daily basis to use secure software on my university servers, but it doesn't work anymore on Yosemite. I'm getting this:

/private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.OxHw89O84m/org.macosforge.xquartz: unknown host. (nodename nor servname provided, or not known)

Anyone know of an alternative to XQuartz on mac? They are super slow with updates and I doubt anything will come for a long time.

Cheers

You really shouldn't be discussing Yosemite as you are sill under NDA. That being said, this issue is fixed in newer versions of XQuartz or ssh (depending on where you're seeing the problem).

I'm not sure what makes you say that. We've had 5 releases (including beta/rc releases) in the past year. If you want to take care of building everything yourself, you can always use MacPorts.

Actually, the libxcb fix for this issue was released in XQuartz 2.7.6, two weeks before your post ;)
