Hi all,

My iPhone XR has started dying when it hits about 50%. Then when put on charge it charges really quickly.

Its draining as normal, and other then just dying at 50% is running normally. Has anyone encountered this or know a fix for it? Ive tried hard resets, and also wiping the phone and re-installing but neither have fixed it. Its just over 2 years old and the battery health shows as being good (as checked by Apple).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seb

I also have an XR running iOS 14.4 but am not having these issues. It would help to know what battery settings you're using. Would you post a screenshot?

Hi, which particular settings would a screen shot be helpful? Just so I know to upload the correct ones. Its currently at 91% in health.

Attached are the battery settings

Your battery is likely shot (despite what your battery health is displaying) if it is faulting with 50% charge remaining

Agree with the two most recent comments. This isn't battery degradation, it's more of a full-blown defect that is now showing itself with a little age.

No option but to replace the battery.

Hi all, many thanks for your responses. I was hoping it was just a software bug or something, but sadly it seems that's not the case. I was looking at upgrading to the 12 mini, so I think I will just hold off a couple of months and do that when shops open again.
