My wife's new iPhone XR has 3 times today completely dropped cellular service (AT&T) and in Setting -- Celluar only lists Add Cellular Plan as an option. When I restart the phone cell service resumes working. Is this an issue with her iPhone or with AT&T? It's still within 18 days - should we just exchange it for a new phone?

If you got it from AT&T I would take it back to them for an exchange. It could be the sim and they may want you to try that first. But this is not normal!

Thank you. I got it from Apple, so take it there?

Is your Apple store local? If so then Yeah I would just take it there. If not you could take it to an AT&T store and let them swap out that sim to eliminate that being the issue. However, the Apple Store can do that as well. Apple store would also have the option to exchange it for a new one too, which AT&T can't do.

Just to echo—it’s not normal for me. I’ve had no issues at all with the phone. Love it!

You should try to update iOS 12.1, according to apple it Improves cellular connectivity for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. Good luck.

After installing 12.1 yesterday I ran into signal issue today where I was connected with no data. Tried airplane mode and turning off LTE, but still no data. As I kept driving I saw an AT&T truck working nearby a construction site so it may have been related to that. :)

I did the update to my XS Max, and when I make a call, it says "CALLING...." for 45 seconds before it drops the call. It does quite frequently. The tech support at Apple asks me if I'm using bluetooth, which I am using through my car's infotainment system. Do you think the connectivity issue is related to bluetooth?

I have also been having problems with the cell signal on my AT&T XS. Was going to Apple during the weekend to get it checked out.

backup your data and try DFU restore back to iOS 12.01 to get a fresh clean start, restore as new, then restore back your data. All my iPhone XR (ios 12.01) have excellent LTE signal and WiFi coverage. Good luck.

I took the phone to AT&T and they were able to figure out that the XR kept dropping cellular plan/service because of something to do with the eSIM being activated and of course not supported. They installed a new SIM and made changes in their system, and the problem has gone away.

I'm on T Mobile in the Netherlands. I'm in a densely populated urban area. Never had any problems whatsoever on any phone such as my previous 6s, always 4 bars. My wife's on an 7+, same 4 bars.

Have the Xr since wednesday. No problems, but today suddenly

I turned the phone off and on again and I have 2/3 bars. Mine is still on 12.0.1. because that's how I got it from the Applestore and I'm not upgrading the OS if I'm not certain that I won't return it and get a new one.

Bummer:mad:

Thanks I will try AT&T also

Interesting since AT&T supports eSIM devices. Wonder if the original SIM was in fact configured incorrectly from abroad.
