Have an XR and using a pouch case at the moment. I've just noticed that the screen is waking up when it's moved about in the pouch.

It's not pressing the buttons, or tapping the screen so what's happening? I took it from the case and without the screen facing me moved it and it also woke. Is this correct? This is going to have a massive impact on battery life if so.

Can't remember this happening on my X, maybe did but never noticed. Can someone test on theirs please.

Ah ok thanks I like this function, was on my X, but I wonder if it did this on my X in my pocket as well?

Surely this is going to impact battery life?

It can have an impact on battery life. How much I'm not sure. Just like vibration. It has an impact on battery but how drastic.

It is especially with FaceID I agree. I didn't notice on my X, but as put my XR in a new case, a pouch, I picked up and seen screen on and wondered why.

Maybe I'll leave for now to see, but it must be waking loads if in my pocket so must be impacting battery life

I think it's a certain motion that activates it.
If I hold my phone straight up and down and shake it side to side rapidly, it doesn't wake. But it wakes when lifting it off the desk gently.

If you’re so worried about battery life then then it off.
