The main reason of XS is to push iPhone users to purchase the XS MAX. Apple is on a mission to raise their ASP!!

I am not gonna be fooled again this year. The battery life of iPhone X is total bs. When I use air pods and Apple Watch I almost get through half the day. I am so waiting for iPhone XR!!!

My wife has an X and a watch, plus she keeps location on and uses the phone pretty heavily. Lots of pictures and videos. She finishes most days around 20-30%. Nothing amazing, but it’s not pitiful either. The phone would benefit from an apple smart battery case.

not sure how you even get this much screen time in a day... who has time for that? lol

Xr sucks compared to Xs. Just a phone that was made for the people who can’t afford the Xs price but can afford more than the iPhone 7 and 8. People can try to spin it many times and ways but that’s the truth. Even apple says it, we are trying to have phones available for person. Which translates to every income bracket.

That’s a massive over statement that’s not true. I think there are plenty of consumers who can easily afford the iPhone XS/XS Max, but they can’t justify the price point because they don’t ‘care’ to have a phone with technology they may not want or use (OLED, dual camera, 3D Touch, ect). The XR is seemingly is cheaper, but still offers Face ID and the new form factor. For some, that’s all they care about.

Take the iPhone SE for another example:

Apples most affordable entry level iPhone, plenty of users who can afford the iPhone XS Max 512 GB, purchased iPhone SE, because They just want the portable, smaller form factor, they just don’t want a larger phone with features they may never use.

What your saying is an overstatement. Just because someone buys an iPhone SE over a say, XR, doesn’t mean there is not a tier of phones at different price points for what a person can afford.

If, if you are constantly enjoying a single bar of both wifi and cellular signal, no wonder the battery life is taking a hit.

Your usage shows you are trying to use data, which is not coming to the phone easily since the signal is not strong enough. Make two and two together. This is not an Apple conspiracy against you.

There are a few battery comparison tests out now. Looks like the iPhone XS does last a little bit longer than the X. I wouldn't worry too much.

I only found one, by Mrwhostheboss. Is that what you're referring to?

apple SOT is different from android....Hes not getting 10 hours of SOT. In iOS 12 you could see SOT now and the Max is getting 4 hrs and 30 mins of SOT

Sure if you negate all basic understanding of smaller processors or efficiency, sure then a few less mah of battery looks worse. All of 2659 vs 2716, 57mah difference or 2%.

Power draw, which the XS has less draw, is equally as important as battery capacity; thus will last longer.

Which shows both 7nm chips outperforming the others out there even with 4000mah batteries. Even the XS with 2716mah outlasting two 4,000mah 845 chips is seriously impressive; let alone the Max. It also shows how far beyond last year's X the XS goes.

Sure its only 1 test but promising even if the trend holds true

I think the tiers are for what people are willing to spend are value a phone. I agree with the poster above. Some people could probably afford the top end iPhone XS, but for them it is not worth it so they might end up with a XR or below, while someone with lesser income might value more the XS features and might buy it. Is not a rule that if you can afford something then you need to get it. For many people it will not be worth it. And the XR will be good enough.
