XServe 2008 - Upgrading logic board to 2009 variant

I have an Apple XServe 2008 which I want to upgrade the logic board to a 2009 variation (I managed to pick one up cheap). Has anyone done this successfully before?

The Logic board will fit very well in the 2008 chassis.... they are both the same right except that the 2009 as DP instead. but the whole behind is bigger and the DP port fits very well...
