We are looking at setting up a development redhat cluster suite system inside our office. (We have one in production). So, we are looking for a cheap SAN solution for in house testing. Beyond that, we have been thinking about moving our fileservers over to use it, since it would be a performance gain and add raid5 support.

How viable are xserves for a SAN solution ? What are the pros and cons ? Does this sound like a reasonable option or should I look else where. If I should be looking else where, any advice on a cheap system ?

Size wise, we are looking at a 3TB system. (Are these expandable ?)
