If an XServe RAID is going to be used in a manner similar to normal hard drive use, what is the best level of RAID to use with it? (Redundancy is most important, but performance is also important)
From my understanding, RAID 50 is the best, but it uses both hardware and software RAID, which seems to complicate things. Would it complicate anything on user end, or just complicate what the unit is doing by itself? I suppose at the moment I'm leaning towards thinking RAID 5 is the best choice.
Also, what do you guys think the chance of price drops or updated models being released before May are?
