Hello friends. I am new here but in the last few months I've irreparably fallen down the rabbit hole in regard to the 4,1/5,1/xserve update. Now, I'm not going to go down that long list of community contributions as it far exceeds Santa's naughty/nice list. You all as a community have shared the knowledge.. Thank You.

In the spirit of all things Mac.

A dell oem 2gb card circa 2017 based on the Polaris 21 gpu and 14mn. pn/ 02H81
It's price varies but is around $100 give or take on eBay.

"The AMD Radeon RX 560D does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 65 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort. Radeon RX 560D is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 interface."

supposedly native support with Mojave. There maybe a clearance issue for anyone especially the few who have dared the sata port mod. (not linked due to high risk) That in mind I attempted to to look for some sort of alternative heatsink.

- link to amazon listing - the availability is may 6th. But I am pretty certain that this one is based on the Lexa GPU and isn't natively supported. Maybe that heat sink's fan wiring soldered directly to the oem rx560d or even a side mounted connector would suffice. I'm not trying to mass produce these so just a straight 30w soldering iron should do it for the novices out there.

There is a write up about a link to another writeup unlocking the rx460d that someone used to unlock a rx560d on redit

I might do that after the heatsink modification to double check but I believe that would increase the voltage draw and my main goal was to have a capable AMD card for Mojave (inside) an xserve without having to use Nvidia web drivers or spend the money for a AMD rx560x mxm just yet. I have set a few of these oem dell cards aside for when/if the community does efi flashing, for boot. Thoughts?

Hello,

I went with a Power Color rx590 video card. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear the Xserve supports this card as you get no boot screen, but Mojave detects the card when Mojave starts up. It works fine except HDMI sound, but there are threads on how to fix that. I have a PciX cable running out of the expansion card slot in back and my card lays on top of the Xserve. The card has plastic on the bottom so it can be done safely like this. Looks kind of cool with the Red light on it.

No aftermarket AMD Radeon RX card has a boot screen on any Mac.
