    I finally bit the bullet and got an slr. I've had a Fujifilm S6000 (bridgecamera with manual zoom) for quite some time and always loved it. That was a great and cheap way to learn about photography. Last night I got an XSi. So far I only have the kit lens and to be honest I figured the kit lens won't be too much to write home about it. But woah, I'm impressed. This is the best shot of today. I didn't think I could get pics like that with the kit lens.

    Over there------->
    Wow. I have that lens and haven't even attempted macro shots with it...maybe because it's not a macro lens...but this picture makes me more interested in what it can do.

    Nice shot

    I was also surprised by the "macro" quality of the kits lens.
    I did a test between this and my 50 1.8 which I currently use for my close ups and the kit actually got tighter shots.
