So in ask effort to play Blu-ray discs on my Mac, I paid and installed the xyPlayer software onto my Mac. It seemed to have downloaded ok but when i insert a Blu-ray disc into my external disc player, nothing happens on screen. Any advice?

Does the BD disc "mount" on the desktop?
(even if the content on it doesn't open)

If so...
Have you tried launching the xPlayer app, then accessing the BD disk through the "open file" dialog?

OK, but you do get the BD disc mounting on the desktop?

Try one called "Free Mac BluRay player" (I think that's the name).
See if that one works in free mode (DON'T pay for it).

Another thought:
Do you have more than one BD disc?
Do you get the same problems with every one of them?

Yes the disc is mounting on the screen. Ive been trying with the same disc and let you know how it goes.

So I tried a different disc and still no luck. It said that the xyPlayer couldn't open discs in the "ACCHD format" which got me thinking. Blu-rays are, unlike a lot of DVD's, region locked. I'm in the UK, I'm presuming the software isn't from the UK so perhaps the software won't work on Blu-rays that are not from their region.

Can you use the free "MakeMKV" to "rip the disc" and save it as a file on your Mac?
(warning: the saved file will be around 20gb in size).
