why do people keep on making weather apps?
are so many people fools enough to use more than one? what now people have a folder named weather apps?
apples weather app works just fine, tells me the current weather and has forecasts what more do i need, seriously?

Your needs do not reflect other people's needs. If you are fine with the stock weather app, good for you. Others want to see more.

I really like the UI on this app (although the app logo could use improving). However, I'm now up to 4 weather apps on my phone, including the stock weather app that I use everyday.

For some of these apps, I agree. But I use the Weather Channel's one because it has radar maps (very important in my area), longer forecasts, pollen and allergen maps, etc. More useful than the stock app. Same reason why people get Calendar, Notes, and Reminder apps instead of using the default ones. Sometimes they offer the features the basic ones don't.

I use The Weather Channel app and would consider this too but I would really like to see Apple implement a choice like they do for Safari search engines, so that I can tell iOS which weather app to pull data from and launch from. That way the notification area for weather would be more useful.

I love this app!

Just deleted the TWC app. I have been looking for a replacement and this is it. The Apple Weather app, though better than it was originally, just doesn't offer enough information. This has everything I need except the annoying ads.

I would like to see an animated radar though. Maybe in the next version.

Great job!

Actually I may do the very same. I just downloaded this one and I gotta say it's nicely done.

Interesting... change "chain reaction" to "halo effect" and she could be describing Apple's business model... or at least the outcome of their business model, which is to create the best products in the world.

I know that as I age, I am becoming stupid. I cannot find the radar and other maps that is supposedly within this app. I scroll all the way up/down, but nothing. What gives?

Very clean, very pretty, but most importantly, responsive. The default weather app is very basic so I don't use it much (except through Siri). I've been using Wunderground's app, which has lots of useful info, but it's quite slow and the interface is a bit clunky in places. This weather app seems to have all the data I want, and all the speed.

Tap the map, it expands and gives you controls.

Wow!

I paid for Weatherbug Elite! At first glance this appears WAY better! If everything Yahoo did was of this quality they would still be a player in the game!

I have never been bothered with weather apps, but after reading here i decided to give it a try. And it's going to stay on my phone! Very well designed.

If you click on the flickr username it take you to their album. The picture they used for Chicago was posted in 2008. Not exactly "live" weather pics.

They are not meant to be live weather pics. They are meant to simply be a representation of the weather in your area.

The apps description: "Beautiful photos that match your location, time of day, and current weather condition."

Anyway, I think the app is very well done. Simple, elegant, clean and just the right amount of info. If you need more, you can always scroll down and get the detailed stats on your local weather. Its definitely my #1 weather app right now.
I wish I could replace the stock weather app for this one!

Weather for iPhone and iPad is powered by Yahoo! Now it creates its own App, what is next? There is no need to use native app!!!!

did apple ever explain why the iPad has no default weather app? too lazy to make one?

Do you really want Apple to create an iPad app that looks as ugly as the iPhone version? I think most would be happy if they just removed the default one from the iPhone.

I think Yahoo was not happy with the app Apple created and decided to do their own. My guess is the rumors of Yahoo and Apple talking several weeks ago is they wanted to use their own app in place of Apple's. And since Apple surely denied them, they submitted this app. Apple really needs to either create a way to replace default apps, or just remove the stock apps that Apple clearly doesn't spend anytime updating.
