Hello,

So I am having issues on my new iPhone 8 Plus with the stock mail app. I have a yahoo email account set up and sometimes it updates and downloads my emails and sometimes it doesn’t. It is not fetching any messages like I have it set up to do every 30 minutes. Even when I go into the mail app, it will not download any emails sometimes. It worked fine on my old iPhone 6...I’m not sure what the problem is?

Thanks!

It’s an issue on yahoo’s side. Happens on my phone and my wife’s. I think they addressed the fetching not working a while back but I guess it never got fixed.

It’s really annoying...my yahoo email account seems to update slower than my other email account I have set up in the stock email application. Very frustrating. Is there a work around?

Same here. Yahoo sucks with the stock email app.

In my case, it won’t properly retrieve all emails in the Inbox. That is, some emails will “disappear” on my iPhone’s stock email app, yet they are there when I use other apps or web access.

I got around it by setting up a filter to automatically move all incoming emails to a folder (I called it inbox2). Now all emails are there.

I do have problems with Yahoo mail as well. It normally happens for me when the phone has sit idle (ie: overnight). It doesn't matter if I have it set to fetch or push. Toggling back and forth to Airplane mode has no effect. I have some success after force-quitting the mail app and re-starting. I haven't had the age-old problem of my yahoo emails disappearing since I got my X.

i have issues with yahoo mail since the weekend

mails just not coming through or just going directly to the trash folder

there are also a few times where the mail app will just re-download hundreds of my yahoo mails

Wow this problem has been known for this long and no one has fixed it yet? There are no other work arounds?

Yahoo has been a mess for a while now - I ended up forwarding from yahoo to gmail just so I didn't have to deal with it. The interesting thing was it seemed to start acting up just as yahoo added the ability to remove ads from the iOS app for 99 cents a month...coincidence?

I’ve had my iPhone 8 Plus all set up for 2 weeks now and it hasn’t worked right since then. I could live with it never downloading emails until I opened the stock email app (like it always did on my old iPhone 6), but it’s not even doing that anymore. I open the stock email app and it doesn’t download. I have to close the application and then go back into it to start the email downloads. Even then, the emails download very slowly...it’s frustrating.

Update: I restored my phone from a backup 2 days ago and now my email is working great! It fetches new emails and everything on time! So strange...it will probably stop working at some point though.

Anything having to do with Yah-poo is on their side. I have problems with the desktop version ALL THE TIME. Cant empty spam folder without clicking specifically on the trash icon instead of being able to click the select all button and delete. Page freezes and becomes unresponsive. Clicks do not register. Im starting to think all of the worlds computer issues its experiencing is to turn people away from machines, especially given that the internet is about to become a subscription only service.

After it working well for like 3 weeks, my Yahoo mail account broke again a couple days ago. It won’t download any new mail until a close the default IOS mail application at least 3 times. Makes no sense. So frustrating...

I think it’s an Apple issue. I have the same issues if I use the Apple mail setup, I downloaded the yahoo app and it works perfectly.

Preferably I’d rather not have a whole other mail application on my phone though...more push notifications, uses more battery...

I like having both my work and personal email accounts set up in the same mail application.

I agree but I need my emails so here we are. I’m sure it will be fixed at some point.

I've also had this issue for ages with my iOS devices. I spoke with BT who use the Yahoo! mail service and they advised that there is a clash between the Yahoo! mail service and the Apple iOS/OS X email applications but it wasn't clear where the fault lies. I'd move away from their service but I've had the email address for around twenty years so it wouldn't be a quick process and I could never fully drop it.

I don’t think this is iPhone specific. I just had this issue with MBP & iPhone. I sent email to a recruiter and freaked later when my iPhone & MBP had no sign of it.

yahoo mail is dog s***t sadly I still use it and its soo slow to update and quite erratic even on my fast iphone X.
Sometimes the entire yahoo inbox disappears and then it starts to download the full inbox again.

I know its a yahoo mail issue, and not the iphone, because all my other inboxes (outlook, Hotmail) work perfectly on iphone.

that app is really crap and I have simply switched my yahoo accounts to the msft outlook app.
