Yahoo teams up with iTunes for Japanese iPod users

The Japanese website Yahoo Music said Thursday that it had tied up with Apple's iTunes music store to allow iPod users to download songs and other content.

This is a first for Apple I beleive and might hint to some problems with tapping the online music market in Japan.

The Japanese online music market is still, I believe, dominated by mobile services. Yahoo! Japan is now a big player in the latter market, so such a team-up could serve well for Apple.

I don't know, friends and I watched a lot of Yahoo Music's videos in 2004, and that just connects me to good feelings and other memories.

It was a good year. :)

Hah, OK. I guess I don't really know anyone who browses Yahoo Music anymore either... meh, but what do I know?

Seems still popular with the regular folks on the street. Out here in the rest of the country known as Japan (not Tokyo) most people don't know Apple, iTunes, or Google. Yahoo is default and just well known. That being said, still more of my students get their stuff at a store (CDs) or illegaly.

    Japan needs the iPhone NOW.

Yeah, totally. I never understood the Japanese people's obsessions with their keitais.
I don't even have the internet enabled on my Softbank phone.
