Anyone here using Yahoo Mail?
They just 'updated' the look and it's awful, as if they tried to make it as bad as possible
I have GMail also but just like to use it for more professional uses. I have been using Yahoo Mail for so long and it is tied to so many things it would be painful to switch.
In Firefox they even made me turn off my adblocker as now they won't allow it, but for some reason Safari isn't affected yet.
Why do companies keep trying to fix what isn't broken?
Folks like me are complaining but so far nothing

Why do you think it wasn’t broken for them? If you were using an ad blocker, that means part of the revenue stream was broken so they fixed it. You’re likely not paying for the premium Yahoo Mail so that means they have to make money somehow. There’s two ways they can make money from you. By selling your data and showing you advertisements. They’re probably doing both. People complaining to them about how they made them turn off ad blockers it’s only going to reinforce to them that they made the right decision. Especially if the number of people is significant.

I only use Yahoo Mail with the Yahoo Mail app or the Apple Mail app on the iPhone. It’s not my primary email for anything. I just have it because I had it a few decades ago and never deleted it. My Yahoo account is probably linked to a few older things, but most of my non financial internet accounts are linked to my Gmail.

For anything financial, I have a paid email service. This is probably not necessary, but I feel a little more secure knowing my email account that’s attached to my financial accounts isn’t paid for by selling my data.

I have an adblock on Gmail and they never complained.
I actually at this point wouldn't mind paying for Premium if it would revert back to the previous layout, not a chance I'm paying the garbage they turned it into

I just checked mine, and don't see any difference. I'm not using Firefox though. Don't use Safari either.

I use it with the android app, and keep getting notifications to check mail when there are no new emails and then what ends up happening is I view the ad in the app.

I see they tried to make it sleek and modern, but now some standard folders like spam and trash are hidden so that you need to click twice to get to them, and you don't even have the choice to leave them unhidden. They reduced functionalities and increased hassle. They could have just copied Gmail or Outlook and it'd be better than this.

When this last Yahoo mail update rolled out I could not believe how bad it was in every way. It's like Yahoo was trying to sabotage their own product. I complained to Yahoo, but received no response. I could not handle this "new and improved Yahoo Mail update" after using it for over two weeks. I decided to try other mail apps on Windows 10 and 11 that supported Yahoo Mail and Gmail. After trying several apps I now use Mozilla Thunderbird on my Windows 10 and 11 computers. Setting up Thunderbird was very quick and simple for both Yahoo Mail and Gmail. Thunderbird works great, has lots of options, and the unexpected plus is no ads on Yahoo Mail. YES no more Yahoo Mail ads! Thanks Yahoo for getting me so mad that I found a better product that works with your mail service.

The new Yahoo Mail is killing my eyes. Many are complaining but I have an idea that they won't revert even though it would be the right thing to do.

So far Yahoo Mail on Safari hasn't told me to stop using the adblocker. On Firefox it is only for my mother's account and she doesn't get a lot of emails

Yahoo Mail is dead for me and everyone I know since every second account from people who had my email address, once when they still used it, sent spam in masses from all those accounts. That was 12 or 13 years ago or a little longer and people stopped using it already before because it wasn't know for privacy or anything better then other free mail accounts. Only very few had an active account back then. I think it had security issues already before.

Their complete contact list got the spam, so also some other friends of mine too. Some people I got spam from where even just friends of my friends. I never communicated with them by email.

This reminds me that I lately tested if I can add an AOL account from 1997 to Apple Mail. I stopped using it maybe 2002 when I lived alone and got DSL for the first time. That AOL was with dial-up ISDN from my stepfather and of course the contract doesn't exist anymore since ages. My account was just one of a few alias account to login to the Internet with prices per minute and on top the phone minutes. 😁 Around 2000 they started offering a flatrate finally, don't know if the phone fees per minute were still on top. But there were Flatrates too some years before.

I could even use it from another town where I lived for half a year. But my stepfather got often angry because everytime I was online the phone did not work or if someone used the phone he couldn't get an Internet conection.

To my surprise Apple Mail accepted the account, but AOL seems to have purged it. Everything is empty in there and I haven't got any spam since then (maybe two months ago). There was nothing else then spam in it, when I looked the last time what had been maybe 12 years ago. I think the next time I looked I had to do some kind of account recovery because the password only had five letters or so. Maybe that was the reason for the purge. They also don't send any ads.

But I wouldn't uses that account anymore. Maybe to shock people from decades ago if they still have there address too. ;)

Yahoo? Hell, I'm still running eWorld. ;)
