i just opened up and set up my SR 2.4 ghz MBP...the welcome screen was delicious! :D. One quick question..what is the best way to charge the battery?

yeah my 2.5 came in today instead of wednesday, I guess its a good advice to calibrate it right away...will do right now, I also reinstalled OSX to clean out the useless language packs, and will need to install 4gbs 3rd party ram :D

Use Apple's instructions on calibrating your battery. Scroll down for the Powerbook/Macbook Pro portion.

Why bother? Thats a serious question, I've never understood why people calibrate the battery when they first get it. I've never done it and I've never had a problem.

I do calibrate once in a while just so I can see how the battery is holding up (I drain it from full to 0 every day so I put some serious work on the batt) but not out of the box.

While some exercise on the battery is a good thing, I thought that draining it every day was hard on the battery and bad for its health to enter the deep sleep?

What should we do when we first get our macbook? Plug it into the wall and charge it to full before even turning it on? I think I remember reading that somewhere before.

Hi i am also a newb, just curious. if i reinstall osx like you did to clear all the useless language packs, how much extra space do i get on my HD? and also what happens when i reinstall. does it automatically rewrite over the previous osx?

again sorry for the newb questions, im just so used to windows os, i just wanna be prepped for when my first new MBP arrives. i have been converted hahah :) thanks in advance!

Is this a previous generation MBP or a penryn MBP?

previous generation. Also..i encountered a problem earlier today...i popped in my Casino Royale DVD..after a few minutes, playback stopped and the whole computer froze..i had to do a hard reset. I was using the DVD Player application.
