Unfortunately, I don't think there is any "matte" or "anti glare" type for these full body coverage.

What I usually do is to use the back (and side) from the glossy one but replace the screen protector with the matte version to reduce fingerprint.

Well, that's a bummer.

Humm... may have to rethink... I'm really all OCD about smudges.

I'm glad to hear that there are quite a few of you with no proximity sensor issues.

That's good news.

Maybe by the time I can finally get one, whatever batches that struggled with that issue will be long gone.

I'm fairly convinced the sensor thing is batch related.

It really is a hard decision for me, easily the hardest descion of my life. I don't know, I am talking to some close friends and family and they are helping me. But what really helped me with the descion was my mother. After talking to her this morning, I have made my descion. I have decided to take my cellular plan to the new iPhone 4 Black.

All joking aside, I have waited to long for a white model and enough is enough. The Black one isn't ugly and it might look sharp with a nice white or black bumper

Otherwise you can get a snap on case with clear back + matte screen protector. That will solve your problem heh

Yeah....I had one of those on my white 3GS. Only thing was, the clear plastic and the white plastic argued with one another, and left these odd little dark marks.

Now, I have a black snap on case... it's like a lil penguin.

:)

LOL! Yeah... I had to consult several spiritual advisors (all different denominations). ;)

I think the black would look rather nice with a white bumper. Or a blue one... hmm... dark blue... or is that too Batman?

No... that'd be black and yellow? Or would it?

I'm mixing superheroes now.... I need to consult with Stan Lee.

Black on Black looks good actually...

I won't be upgrading this year unless 2 things happen. Skype app that supports video chat & the white iPhone is released. I will not be upgrading if those things aren't done by September 1st. With rumors of 2ghz phones later this year and phones already having 4.3" screens, Apple is getting dangerously close to losing a loyal customer since 1988!

What will you buy? I've not been keeping up with other product lines, I reckon. I get used to an interface, and sorta stick with it.

I can tell you that if I don't upgrade to SOMETHING before 9/1, I will wait until Apple (or someone) comes out with a product I really, truly feel is an upgrade to my 3GS.

I am leaning toward just getting the black, but with all the shattered glass stories, and the bummer over not being able to get a white one (I know the whole fingerprint issue is bound to drive me up a wall)... I just dunno...

I upgrade yearly, always buy white, and waited for the white iPhone 4.. but i'm not waiting any longer. I'll buy black now and hope someone will trade their white one for my black one after launch. (I'd throw in an extra $100 or so if i had to)

Having owned the iPhone 4, and currently using my 3GS again, I would say wait. The proximity sensor issue renders the phone completely useless. The 3GS is a superior "phone", even if the 4 is a nicer device.

Not everybody has the issue with the proximity sensor, so I wouldn't say that the 3GS is a better phone. I have an iPhone 4 since Tuesday and I am extremely happy with it. I have no issues whatsoever and even if I can drop the bars using the death grip, I still have to see my iPhone drop a call. The display is really great and the device is for me the best on the world.

I think you'd probably be able to sell the black on ebay or craigslist and buy a white for full price.

:)

I've had them all... 1st gen (no color choice there), 3G (black), 3GS (white/black front)...I was hoping for ip4 in white as it was white all over. Bah.

I'll just buy the **** thing in black, I reckon. :D

Am I the only one who upgrades yearly for the subsidized price?

:)

i've upgraded every year on launch day, and with the 3G and 3GS i opted for the white phone... and i was planning on getting a white phone this year too but seeing as they're not available, and the decals i put on my phone are infinitely more cool than the all white phone would have been i'd say your best bet is to get the black phone now and just wait until next year to get the white one (if they even make a white one next year)

I have zero prox issues either. But apple is fixing that problem with an update soon anyways. So that's really moot.

But if anyone is planning on getting an iPhone 5, then they either need to simply wait, or hurry and get an iPhone 4 so they'll still be elegible next year for the 5. Anyone who gets a white iPhone 4, won't be eligible.

I considered it at first, but I decided to get the IP4 and not look back.

I was still happy with my 3Gs though.

If you spend over $100 per month (a.k.a $69.99 unlimited + Data + SMS) you get 12 months upgradeability instead of 18 months

Really

So I bought the iPhone 4 in June, so your saying by next August I would be eligible for another upgrade at the discounted rate? Have to call AT&T to check on that one. Sounds interesting though. :D

I spend way over $100 per month, AT&T is good that way I do not get squat with my sons and wife on Verizon, all I hear from them, is you can buy at full retail, makes me want to hit them with something when they say an idiotic statement like that, why would I. I just can nto wait until everyone in the family is over to AT&T with me, life will be much easier when dealing with Cell Phones.

Edit: The link is not applicable for iPhone

Yep. If your phone plus data are over 99 (it might be 109 now, I forget), per month, you should be able to upgrade after 12 months.

I have 4 lines. 2 of them are iPhones. I've got the 89.99 1400 minute plan, plus my data, plus the first gen iphone data plan (plus addtl line charge/my son's phone), plus 2 more regular 9.99 add-on lines.

Comes to almost 180 a month, but we don't have land lines, or cable tv (just cable internet). Works for us, yearly upgrades for me. :D
