Years before Steve Jobs retires?

One question I've been pondering is how much work Jobs does in the charity sector compared to Gates. I wonder what the ratio of earning to donations is for each of them:)

On a side note if there is a maximum amount of money that billionaire can earn and be satisfied and that amount of money of around 1 - 2 billion then it is an unfair comparison. But only if that is pretty common across the board.

He's really reversed the Apple slump of the '90s and given Apple a brand new look for a new age. He loves his job and he loves the industry.

I think that he'll keep going and one day send out five laptops with golden apples and those people will get a special tour of the Apple campus in Cali, and one of those special children will inherit Apple, Willy Wonka style ;)

Jobs does far less for charity publicly. Gates tells the world.

I hope he never leaves, but of course some day it will happen. I think he will be there till either he dies or cant do it anymore due to health reasons. He needs to have a sucessor lined up though, let the people get used to him and know him.

The company I work for has a 70 year old CEO with an equally as old founder that is active in the company. A prior company I worked for had a leader that left after over 30 years with the company. He decided it was time to retire and enjoy life. He passed away within 6 months. He was not yet 60.

People like Steve are driven people. It is not necessarily the money or prestige that drives them. It is the challenge and the desire to succeed. They have to be doing something important with their lives. And I mean important on a large scale, not just family or charity work.

Providing that his health holds out and he is not removed from the job, he will be there until the end. Or, if he does leave on his own, the end will be very near.

Just my opinion.

Fatty

Why did they hand microsoft down to a man who breaks a sweat introducing a new OS?

If uncle jobs leaves apple, I am guessing steve woz.

Let's just hope he taps Ive and not Schiller.

I believe Schiller is being groomed and when Jobs had the cancer scare it was Schiller who was at the helm.
