This website did a really nice and thorough review/comparison of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and they repeatedly mention its Yellow tinted display. They have some technical analyses and measurements in here. I highly suggest reading through it

They also discuss how the night filter is overbearing, to the point where it makes it difficult to read, which I agree with. Also note the strong green in the display when tilted - I notice this on mine as well
For me when I display is tilted it turns blueish

Thanks.
Glad to see dxo mentioning the yellow cast. What I don't understand is how they can say it's "near the top", even if it loses against the oneplus in almost in every comparison..

Yes, finally someone tested a device which looks/behaves similar to my first 12PM.

They not only mention it, they refer to the problem many times. Its the very first consideration against the phone: “A yellow cast is visible in all tested conditions in both video and still imagery”.

Tbh. I have no problem with their “near the top” statement. They take many aspects into consideration. From my personal point of view the screen is between mediocre and bad.

It looks terrible.

-sent from my iPhone 12 pro
really? that's why I don't trust screenshots...now I see that on my laptop the pic looks yellow, the same is for the pics the people here are enthusiast of their display, to me they are yellow too when seeing from laptop. I think that the only way to discuss this is to see from one's own eyes. Just to make another example: I have a S7 plus tablet, one of the best displays of 2020, it's more brighter and whiter than my 12PM, but if I compare the two under different view angles (not light conditions, angles) the 12PM looks whiter and the S7 yellowish...

You need to take a photo of the screen with a camera. Better compared to another iphone or apple display, side by side. A screenshot is useless as it shows perfect whites always, no matter the screen.

And even on camera it is often difficult to show depending on the white balance settings... I tried to take a picture of my really dull and greenish 12PM screen next to my very good iPad Pro (2017) display (minus the white spot issue but that's a different story) with another iPhone - but it does not even remotely show how dramatic the difference is between both devices in reality...

Thanks I didn't know that the screenshot is useless...
The screenshot program does not include every layer that contributes to the image what you see with your eyes (e.g. Color Filter never or some hardware overlay won't be visible on screenshots). So the way suggested by inigou is much better for comparison.

This. And I also think the screen being yellow is subjective. I understand there are going to be bad units in anything that is produced in the tens of millions, but for any one person to be returning multiple iPhones and saying every one is "piss yellow" makes me wonder what their definition of piss yellow is.

I returned 4 and will return 5th soon. Piss yellow is an aggressive yellow tint with True Tone on, and a dull yellowish greenish screen with True Tone off. Compared to all my apple devices is very evident. I never had this issue in the past, and now 5 phones returned in a row. Has to be a widespread problem this year. My perception and tolerance to yellow screens hasn’t changed.

Have a look to first page. The picture it’s first post. That’s how my 12 pm looks compared to my X with True Tone on in a low light environment. That is piss yellow for me
