Does your phone have raised black or yellow tint?

Definitely yellow tint. And off-axis color shift. My XR didn’t have an off-axis color shift. It’s very distracting on the 12.

Not sure about the blacks. Some blacks look good but black text on a white background looks a bit gray. My XR’s text looked more black by comparison. Overall contrast doesn’t seem to be very good on the 12.

how do you test if the text is gray because I haven't noticed it and had it for 4 months.

I didn’t test anything at first. I just used the phone. But I noticed soon after it wasn’t a rich black. Just didn’t look right. Then I compared it to my XR and the XR had deeper black text.

I don’t know how text works on an OLED panel. Does the phone turn off the pixels for the text?

On any display, the pixels are off and on OLED each pixel controls the light so no backlight. So on any black on OLED it should be black because there off when looking straight on not an angle. But maybe the test could be so dead pixels don't happen or Apple has an iusse

Yeah, I don’t know. Since my nearest Apple store is over an hour away, I’m gonna go to a local Verizon store and see what they say. I bought it through Verizon.

Very desperate for a new phone. My 7+‘s charging port barely works anymore. You nudge the phone while it’s charging, it stops. Sometimes it doesn’t even charge when it’s plugged in.

Just tried my 5th 12 Pro Max today since it came out last year.

Nope. Its the same as its always been. Ugly warm tint that can only be saved with color filters and even then, it still looks off and takes a brightness hit. The gray/green flicker raised black issue is still there. Absolutely bonkers Apple never fixed that. The phone was manufactured in April 2021 too. These phone screens are such garbage.

I think I’m officially giving up on the 12 now and very afraid to start it all over again with the 13 in 3 months.

I’d just settle for an LCD $650 iPhone 11 if it also didn’t have a sub HD screen and worse PPI than my iPhone 7.

Not sure what to do anymore. **** sucks man. I’m so tired of this nonsense. I just want a phone I’m satisfied with for the obscene price tag.

how do i test for green tint, I just noticed raised blacks on low brightness, and for HDR on youtube black isn't black on every brightness level. It has to be software or ****** quality control

Sorry that you’re having some of the same issues I’m having. May I ask how you determined when your phone was manufactured?

Has apple support gave you the same line- Apple is aware of this issue and investigating, their engineers are fixing it.

Just out of curiosity, after four months of owning your phone, what fix would Apple offer you at this point? A repair? I wouldn’t think they’d give you a replacement at this point. Or maybe you’re waiting for another software update?

Nothing, Apple store 15 minutes away, 7 times I have been there, 1st-time they repaired tbe screen, same **** and the 6 other times they reset the phone to factory and told me software update. It' s a joke at this point.

Yeah, that sounds lousy.

And they always smile to the point where it's creepy. It's like it's painted on there

What‘s most bothersome to me is when Apple employees won’t acknowledge that there’s some kind of problem, even if they’ve been presented with it many times. They can’t be honest because they’re not allowed to be by those above them in the chain of command.

I blame corporate, this is a joke there better be a recall or I am arguing my way to a free iPhone 13 or switching to Android. Once Steve passed Apple's quality went down. An empire may fall

Just went to the Apple Store again just to check and every display phone they had there was way more yellow and low contrast than mine. So I think I'll just keep mine🤣

Every single 12 series is yellow. It’s intentional. Do not get crazy and get used to it or return it.

I think you missed the point, which is that some are D65 (warm but perfectly acceptable), while others are VERY warm.

Also Apple have refused some returns, like mine, as its "only a cosmetic issue".

No, I haven’t missed anything.
I returned my 12 pro Max a lot of times months ago and every time I got a new one was exactly the same. Also tested dozens at stores. All the same white balance. Maybe with a very slight variation.
The good screens myth is just that, a myth.

Explain then how all the in-store phones are far cooler than the pissy one I currently have sitting beside me. Both myself and the authorized service center staff were agreed on this and photographed them side by side and submitted to Apple to dispute it as they do not possess a color calibrator to test with.

It's not a myth, its fact that there is wide variances between some of their displays and others. Maybe its simply shoddy quality control or Apple dropping the ball on their tolerances.

You are talking about one, your device, vs store display units. I’m talking about having returned around 10 phones in the past, and compared to dozens, all with the same result.
I’m sure there can be defective units, but the majority of them are just calibrated like that this year, yellow, warm or whatever want to call it.
I have corroborated it, after a long trip of returns and headaches. Finally i got surrendered and got used to it.
