For people complaining that the new LED screens are not up to Apple quality, read this review first and then decide.

If it is good enough for professional photographers, it is good enough for the average joe. If you still are not happy, may I suggest Dell

thanks Mahatma! i hope you live up to the screen name you choosed?
to the comlaining ones, you were all crying about the previous screens and wanted new ones, now you got em and you're not happy? will you ever be satisfied with what you get? should i remind you that apple does not manufacture the screens?
btw, to bring your friends over and enjoy some pRon, who cares about the yellow tint? :D

Seriously, I own the 2.4ghz model myself...

It is a great computer, if it doesn't serve your purposes, return it.

It is okay for people to start such threads for legit issues, but this kind of threads are close to stuff like "geez, my car looks kind of fugly when it is looked upon from this angle! Ford! I demand a redesign of my car!"

You obviously knew about this forum before you bought the machine, the yellow tint issue has been around since *gasp* the very first Intel Macbook Pro was released. If anything I deem it good news that PC trolls now have to dig up a long pre-existing issue to troll.

I had no problems with my 2nd gen MBP's screen - the viewing angle was perfect and folk could sit around it in our university halls and not worry about any discolouring.

That is still almost the case for my SR MBP. Although there is yellow tint there, sitting the MBP on a desk and everyone sitting back at about 3 feet you should have no problems with the viewing angle.

If you are planning to have more than 4 folk watching then buy a bigger screen though - they don't cost much and it's always good to have something worthy in your room in halls; you'll find more folk want to chill in your room than other peoples ;)

hey seriously everyone hates pcs here and want to get rid of them forever..including me...but for me as a switcher i expect Apple to be a perfect company making the best computers ever..and the yellow tint issue everyone is talking about is a big issue..even if you try not to care about it..but you know thats its not supposed to be there...

I picked up a SR MBP on Sunday, and although I haven't looked into this in depth at all, or ever plan to, I don't really see this yellow tint even from the side. Is this something that only happens on glossy screens (mine's a matte) or is this something so subtle that the casual glance can't really hone in on it?

Perhaps, but you have to admit that Apple has to work within various engineering constraints to make such a wonderful computer as the MacBook Pro happen.

Apple did the best they could, if you can find a 1440 x 900 15.4" screen that does not exhibit the problem, then let Apple know!

So are you saying that the yellow thing isnt an issue? if not then why do Apple accept to replace laptops with the yellow tint?!

actually they accept trades on the bottom third being yellowing, not the the whole screen being yellowing from an angle....

For the love of god, has this "yellow tint" and "side angle" nonsense not been discussed to death enough already?

Viewing from the side? Don't do it. End of.
