Wow, the refurbished iMacs, Macbook/Pro have gone way down.

Well, the Macbook Pro's don't have the multi-touch as like the new ones...but...

REFURBSTORE

these prices are amazing but are refurbs really worth it? i know it could be a laptop someone decided they didnt want, but what if it's a super duper craptastic lemon?

They are usually very good, and I have heard of fewer people having problems with refurbsthan with new ones.

I dont see any mac Minis for $429, and the iMac are the same price as they were before, am I missing something!?

I was really only referring to the Macbooks/Macbook Pros. There price went a few hundred down and if you're a person who is looking for a cheap alternative, then refurbs are great.

i need to order a MBP on or before march 10. you think i should:

1. order a refurb 2.4 now
2. wait for a refurb newer model
3. order the base model at educational discount

please please help me out

Just got a last generation 2.2Ghz MBP for $1449. Todays updates weren't nearly compelling enough to justify the price increase for me. Ill hold on to this until a case redesign, and sell it.

Literally, the new Macbook Pros will probably not show up in the refurb store until AFTER March 10, so your best bet I think is getting the base model w/ edu discount, unless the multi-touch pad is not as spectacular or needed for yourself, then get the 2.4 refurb.

oh yeah good point!

argh, i don't think the multitouch is worth it. dang the 2.2 sounds so so sweet at 1449.. choices choices

You're right, refurb store is jacked, a 799 macbook, and a 429 Mini w/ C2D!

Uh, again, NO! The Mini was a Core Duo model, NOT a Core 2.

Looks like the diff between the $799 MacBook and the $849 one below it is 950 vs. X3100 graphics (not immediately apparent by the summary on the refurb page).

this must have been a mistake by apple, the lowest priced mini is $479 for a 1.5ghz core solo

No, it wasn't a mistake. I have written about this before (link). It is simply the Apple refurb people smoking the pricing crackpipe again. The few explanations that people gave last time might be true, but they still don't make me feel any better about purchasing a refurb from Apple if the pricing is so random and volatile.

Today, that 1.66 CD Mini for $429 was exactly the same spec-wise as the Core Solo it was being sold alongside, with the Core Solo priced at $50 more. Ridiculous.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and they're doing the same stupid thing again this time that they did last time I posted about this: 1.5 Solo/Combo/60GB is selling for THE SAME PRICE as 1.83 Duo/Super/80GB!! WTF?!?

I just hope the iMac refurbs don't sell out. I'm planning on getting one in a week!

LOL, not when the refurbs sell out :)

MBs and MBPs don't usually sell out of the refurb store, just minis.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many of the "refurbs" Apple sends out of the SR notebooks will actually be unsold new ones that were left in inventory.

Very true; if your looking for a "new" macbook pro, that would be awesome.

I snagged a Black Book early this AM

I have been waiting and watching for weeks now hoping for an update. I almost pulled the trigger on Sunday for a refurbed Blackbook for $1299. I read the rumor update about this Tuesday and decided to wait. I snagged the same Blackbook this AM for $1049!

This is for my daughter away at college so she really didn't need the Penryn or the extra drive space.

Very happy!
