This question was asked alot during this time , and I saw some hit or miss answer . And Yes , you can swap it to another band if you want . I just did it when I picked up my 45mm graphite SS , swap from silver milanese to graphite milanese .

If the band you want in-stock , they can swap it without hassle , if not , they wont do it .

I think that’s why they changed the boxes a few years ago. They just pair whichever watch you want with whichever band you want. Hermes and Nike are a bit different but you can still swap bands within those lines.

It was impossible for me in Opera Apple Store (Paris). I think it depends of the stores

I wish I’d known this before I cancelled my launch-day store pickup starlight/starlight to Nov 2 delivery starlight/clover.

just called an other store in Paris and they said that I can swap my band in the 14 days after the launch. I’m going the Apple Store and I will update

Anyone know if you can exchange a different band type (vice color). I would like to exchange a braided loop for a leather link (equal value). Would also be interested to know if you could exchange a braided loop for two sport bands.

So they confirmed me that it’s possible only if you bought you Apple Watch in Studio web page. That’s not my case, I bought the graphite with abyss blue band package. They have to refund me and I have to buy a new watch… it’s annoying…

Is this a sure thing? Picked up my 45mm SS + starlight sport band as that was the only combo in Watch Studio available.
Could I just take the band in and swap it for a 41mm solo loop or do I need the watch packaging as well?

Hmmmm I was told this by the store employee who was serving me, but then when she went to check with the manager/supervisor, was told no. Not that it mattered as I ended up getting the SS Graphite with Graphite Milanese loop. Was originally getting the SS Silver and wanting to swap the Silver Milanese loop (which I already have) with something else. So, I was told no, you can't.... UK.

This would explain why I was also told no ... I was buying the SS and Milanese Loop package

I picked up a Titanium with the Tornado/Gray Sport Loop as it was the only choice for 10/15 when I purchased it for store pickup. I wanted the midnight Leather Link. (I mostly use the SS Space black link band I got with the very first Apple Watch). I went to an Apple store (in California) today and there was zero problem swapping. Basically, they processed a SWAP on the same receipt and transaction. The receipt says In Store return Watch+Sport Loop for a credit of $849, and an in store purchase of the exactly same watch, but now with the Leather link for $899. All I had to do is pay the $50 difference plus tax on the $50. The transaction took 5 minutes as the specialist that helped me knew this stuff well. (FYI I did not originally purchased the watch using studio - I got the only black titanium choice when the store opened for orders). I wish in the future they allow us to buy the watch and band separately.

Matches my experience yesterday. They thought it would be possible but several tried different approaches with no luck. They could have done it with a no-receipt return for the band but said the watch would then unreturnable. This is due to there being only a single SKU for the watch/band combo I ordered. If you put a combination together yourself it’s not a problem. If I keep the watch I’ll do the no-receipt return just before the return window closes.

I feel like every store is different for some reason. I walked into my apple store today, asked if I could swap the abyss blue sport loop that came with my watch with something else. They told me that’s no problem at all as long as they have what I want in stock. Was able to swap it with a black solo loop band no questions asked. Was in and out. They also gave me the option to swap with the braided loop but just would have had to pay the difference in cost.

One issue that prevents some Apple stores to do the swap on a online order being picked up at the store, is that their system does not immediately update the picked up order. This is why they could not do so when I picked up the order yesterday. They suggested I return today when the picked up order is on the system and they can easily do the in store return, and credit you for your configuration, and then resell you the watch with the band you desire - if more, you pay the difference, if less it is a credit to the method of payment. Luckily for me in Los Angeles, the Apple store is less than 10 minutes drive with easy parking. Neither yesterday nor today was the store particularly busy. Today I was told the next available specialist could take 30 to 40 minutes, and my named was called in less than 10 minutes. I did overhear a sales rep saying they are almost out of all watches, so maybe this is why they are not that busy. They had no iPhone 13s, no iPad minis and no watches.

I bought a Nike GPS and was able to return the Nike band and pay the difference for a Black Leather Link Loop earlier today.

I did this- I traded my abyss blue braided loop for a graphite Milanese loop.
