It isn't the only Apple product I won, heck I use iPhones all the time, have a iPad Mini, bought my wife a iPad Air 2 and most of the rest of my family had iPhones

But for me I have never used a Mac or a Mac Mini for a desktop
I like it so far, it is no where near as fast as my aging Windows gaming machine, but then again it is a mid 2011 2.3 with 2 gig RAM, I am gonna get some SODIMM and upgrade it to 8 gig
And put a SSD in and see it it is more responsive, I can do so for fairly cheap as my cousin runs a computer shop

anyone here a big fan of the i5 mid 2011 or was this a bad decision for my first foray into the Mac World?

(I got if for a trade)

The Mac Mini is great. I've used them exclusively for at least 9 years. Love using my own screen, keyboard, etc. and having to buy only the computer. True, they aren't powerful (at least the base configuration), but they are practical and inexpensive. I have the late 2012 version -- super easy to upgrade, with a large hatch on the bottom that unscrews. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

with 8GB of ram and a SSD that machine will feel brand new. Enjoy it!
