Dilemma for me too

I can't decide at this moment. I just bought myself a DV camera and feel that I would want to do the occasional video editting and burning using final cut express. I used to own a 15" powerbook 1ghz, but due to the white spots I got a refund. Now I've got this money and can't decide what I want anymore. Here is what I came up with.

If I get a 12" iBook maxed out then I can get a 160gig external HD and an external DVD+-R and still have change, whereas the 15" will only be stock state except for the 768mb RAM.

Do you guys think a 12" iBook will be good enough for the occasional DV editting? Would these peripherals be able to compensate for the differnce in the L2 Cache and 128mb RAM?

Another question, I've still got a 512 mb DDR333 stick from the 15". Would I be able to use it on the iBook?

The iBook has a Firewire 400 port which if you do all the editing on the external HD should be enough for most DV editing.

Absolutely. It will take a bit longer on the iBook then the PowerBook, but if you are not doing production type work,

Yep, it will just work at DDR266 speed.
