Also, how important is it to get Apple Care?

Mmm..... I think that for what it offers and the price you pay (first year is free, get it before that year is up to extend) it really comes out to around 100 or so a year. That's... kind of a lot and they make a ton of money on it.

However.... what does it cost to have something fail? That's pretty much the reason people buy it. Peace of mind.

And, if I may, I think a strong deciding factor is that Apple has made customer service NOT SUCK. In the past it's always (call, support line, walkthrough, number, ship, wait 2 weeks or more, get it back).

Now it's (call, set up appointment, walk in, hand box, walk out, come back in a few days (or less depending on what it is), go home.

They have actual stores that do in house repairs and that goes a long way.

The Samsung SSD is the better of the two correct?

Which brand screen do you want and why?

Also, is there any way of improving my chances to get either? I.E. do the recently produced models have the Samsung SSD?

1) Yes. You want the Samsung (If memory serves me right)

2) I don't know; you could get the machine, open it up, click "about this mac" then see what kind of storage is in there. If it isn't what you want, just take it back and get a refund then exchange.

Of course, it would get tiring after a while and I doubt they'd do it if you just checked and returned 30 minutes later over and over again.

The screen difference is notable between LG and Samsung but the SSD difference can only be found in the benchmarks not day to day tasks
