Thank you for doing this! :)

I can confirm it launches without trouble on my PowerBook5,9 running 10.5.8!

In addition, I tested it on my PowerBook5,8 running Build 10A96 of 10.6 and found it launches the application, but doesn’t pull up a window or access the internet. I saved my settings from 10.5.8 as an html file and dropped that onto the application icon in 10A96, which did open a similar-sized window as on 10.5.8, but the application did not attempt to connect to the internet. No crashes were reported in the console.

I also tested it in Rosetta mode on a 10.6.8 build and the application insta-aborted with no checkbox option displayed in the File > Info window for anything like “Open in Rosetta Mode”.

I’m not sure this testing info is handy in any way, but I thought I’d pass it along anyway.

Other than mac related chat channels, can I also join channels with it like EFnet as i HAVE some friends that still are ircops there ?

Discord has thousands of servers with many different channels (not just mac related) just like irc does. However it is not an irc client. For efnet you'd need to use an irc client like xchat-aqua, irssi, limechat, etc.

Thanks for the report. Typing is smooth of my single 1.6ghz G5, and just a smidge slow on the 1.67ghz powerbook. Glad to know it's still usable at lower specs.

Hola mi amigos - So this is really weird. I went to cycle my DP 1ghz quicksilver this evening and now I get this. The app is still working fine on my DP 2ghz pmg5 out in the garage (used it all day) but I'm getting this white screen here.
discord PPC white screen .jpg

I have deleted it and re-DL/installed via macintosh garden with the same result. Any other ideas?

Strange. Out of curiosity, does safari/webkit display properly?

Edit: also does it work with a different user account? (On the mac, not discord account).

Cheers

From what I can tell Safari 5.0.6 is displaying properly. Brought up a few websites and compared them to Safari 11.1.2 on my elcap macbook and everything looks identical. I do not have multiple user accounts on this quicksilver. I agree, this is the weirdest thing. I also tried reloading (in app rightclick, reload drop down menu) discord but that action would hang (spinning beach ball of doom) eventually crashing the mac (frozen GUI).

Again, the app is working perfectly fine on my DP2.0ghz a1047 out in my garage - Really odd.

About the only other thing i can think of you could try is....
Delete these directories:
~/Library/WebKit/Databases/___IndexedDB/com.wicknix.discord
~/Library/Preferences/com.wicknix.discord.plist
Then restart the app. Hopefully that fixes it for you as it doesn't really save any other files on the system.

Cheers

I have the same issue on fully updated 10.5.8 on an 867MHz PB G4. Discord is almost usable in Leopard-WebKit so it’s not some huge loss for me but still a bit surprising.

Well ... Last night i experienced this on one of my G5's. No idea why. Will have to look deeper in to this now that i have something to work with.

Vidy vidy interesting. Neither filepath exists on this computer. That could be part of the problem. No worries, its still a great app, just need to figure out why it's giving us the el blanco diablo screen of death.

What I find really odd is what changed so a reinstall back to default does not fix it.

Im wondering if something changed on discords side of things. Only because last night i set up bitlbee discord on a powerbook running linux and i got a strange message about an authentication key or something. However, that still worked as it should.

Cheers

This makes logical sense. If nothing has changed on the PowerPC side to bring on the white screen, the shift must be on Discords backend somewhere. Still, why would some machines be affected and others not be? So weird.

I'm not sure if this helps at all but I've noticed that Discord displays the same white page if you visit it (https://discord.com/login) in both TenFourFox Intel and Chrome 49 on Snow Leopard. Maybe Discord just isn't compatible with these old browsers anymore?

Sadly, my initial thought for a workaround does not work. This project had the quickest death of anything i ever made. :(
