This is a great application and you should compile it for SL some day. I think you may have done some SL apps but unfortunately those can't seem to get a proper SSL connection going. Maybe we need to update certificates or even come up with a SL-webkit of some sort.We already had mindisc and bitlbee, and now we also have DiscordPPC.

I deleted my FB account almost a year ago, but i still randomly check out the low end mac group. In doing so i stumbled across this. Another discord app is in the works. Looks pretty nice.

Wow, I just stumbled across this thread. I had no idea there was someone else working on such a thing. My approach is definitely quite a bit more complicated (and VERY time-consuming), as I'm writing the entire application from scratch using native Cocoa/Objective-C. As such, though, it runs VERY well, even on the anemic 1.33 GHz 12" PowerBook G4 I'm using for testing, with 768MB of RAM. I'm at the point now where about 70% of the functionality is there. I was able to get around all the SSL issues using some (very bad practice) hackery (which you'll see in the GitHub repo when I make it), but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? Anyways, with that said, if any of you all want to test what I have done now, just let me know, and I can send you a copy. Just be aware it is not fully implemented yet. I do plan on this being an almost fully-featured client once I'm done (including voice and even video if I can squeeze that out of it). If you want to try it, your account must not have 2-factor authentication enabled, nor have a captcha requirement (as those features have not been implemented yet). Lastly, I didn't design this application exclusively for old systems. I designed it to work on all Macs, modern and old, as I despise the bloated Electron-based garbage that is the official Discord client. As such, I was able to compile this as a "tri-FAT" binary, with native support for PPC, 32-bit Intel, and 64-bit Intel. I do plan to make it a "quad-FAT" binary later, and add native ARM/M1 support (if I can manage to pull that off).View attachment 1903164
I am deadass hyped up for this. Another reason to go Tiger rather than leopard.

Wow - amazing effort - there can't be many actually still coding for PowerPC! Alas, I have no use for Discord but congratulations on achieving this and I hope you don't stop there! If anybody is interested in testing, I have just released the initial alpha version of my custom Discord client
So envious of those skills and as always, thank youSince discordppc decided to not want to display user avatars or server icons any more i whipped up another client quick. Still requires a fast G4 or G5, but it works much the same as discordppc. Download it from the discordppc page on the garden. It's called PowerCord.

Leopard? Proper unarchiver? That's all it takes. Unzip and run. Though 1ghz is much too slow for it. Better off with dosdude's discord-lite on that machine.am I missing something?
