Looking through this forum there seems to be quite a few issues with time machine.
I've just added a 160gb external 2.5" drive (which was going to replace the stock drive in my macbook).
Its successfully completed the backup procedure. I then checked the files it had backed up by clicking on the drive > Backups.backupdb > My macbook > 2008-04-10-200910 > Macintosh HD > Users > My Account.
I then left clicked on my docs to show the number of files and the size. Did the same on the macbook drive.
It shows 81,000 files on the macbook but 600 less on the backup, same goes for the music folder.
All the other folders, pictures etc are fine.
Any idea why its skipping so many files?

I've found out what its not backing up in the music folder:
iTunes Music Library.xml
Album Artwork folder

In the process of finding out which files its not backing up in my documents.

Caches would be the #1 most likely item. There are certain items Time Machine doesn't backup, but they are not reasonable to backup anyway.
