Apple always overcharges for parts and labor. An LCD replacement can cost almost as much as an entire refurb laptop with the same specs. I'm not too surprised but I hope you end up with a working laptop at least.

The LCD for my previous macbook was 800ish, steep, but not that much, the LCD is the most expensive part of a laptop right?

My Experience:
I spilled a full glass of coke in my MBP.

First: The Keyboard is sealed with plastic, even the speakers, so the fluid doesnt pass to the logic board. The only way to get the logic board is the FW-USB ports, nos likeley or the rear vent.

Second: When something happens like that, you should put the computer upside down, clena with a cl0oth, and open the computer, and remove the top case, use ditillated water, and clean everything. Let Dry. Reassemble.

Get a new keyboard, and exchange it, it will take you 40 mins.

Good luck

That's the plan, I've just got to wait for apple to fix the damage they made to the case whilst diagnosing it first. Since they're replacing the whole top plate It would be nice of them to fix the keyboard while they're there, but I doubt they will. We'll see I should have it back tomorrow or Thursday.

I did it too!

Oh jeez - I did the same thing about 3 months ago to my Pbook - I'm crazy careful about not eating/drinking anything while working on it. Then one day, after a long day at work, I had a glass of wine and soon thereafter my wife heard me scream OH SH*T!!

Despite the upside down, distilled water, battery routine, I lost several function keys, including the esc key which was a real drag. I've had the Pbook for 5 years and love it to death, but this has been the straw on the camel's back.

Come Sept I plan on buying a new MBP - or whenever the new one is released!

Good luck!

My MBP replaced a 5yr old powerbook in September... I was hoping it would last a little longer than 10 months (well it isn't quite dead yet).
