Yosemite 10.10.1 brings shadows back?!

    Hi there!

I installed Yosemite 10.10.1 on my MBA 2013 when it was released. But just yesterday I noticed something strange: When you have a Finder-window in front of a white area, there seems to be a shadow around it. On the bottom the shadow is dark, at the top, the shadow is light (like a halo in 16-bit colors).

Also, when I look at my Messages-conversations, the blue bubbles also seem to be rendered in 16-bit - the color-gradient is clearly visible in its individual steps.
    See attached pictures for clarification.

My question only is: Does this look the same on your system?
For the life of it, I can't remember this looking that way on 10.10.

    Thanks for any insight!
    Best regards,
    VSG

Window shadows were never gone to begin with. I'm not seeing visible gradients in Messages on my non-Retina iMac.

Nope, shadows have always been there in Yosemite.

Shadows were always there, just less pronounced than in earlier OS X versions.

    Thanks for the replies!
Guess I never really noticed in 10.10.
