Yosemite high cpu usage, fan blowing hard

Ever since I installed Yosemite, my machine is running HOT. The fan spins so loud, it is distracting. Activity monitor shows CPU load ~~20%.

Kernal task at 50%
corestoraged at 24%

Machine is idle except for the activity monitor.

My copy seems to run the same as Mavericks and I am on a late 2009 Macbook.
