Hi everyone,

I have an issue with a fresh install of 10.9.5 & 10.10.4 server.

Both servers clean install, single user setup with 1 share point with a single Word Document inside.

Mac "1"- Connects (using test a/c) over AFP & SMB and is able to open the word doc, edit and save.
Can also copy files and delete in/out to the test share point.

PC "1" - Connects (using test a/c) over SMB and is only able to open the document as Read Only because it thinks the file is "locked for editing".
Create a new Word doc and save to the test share. This works
Open the new Word doc and it thinks it's locked for editing.

PC "2" - Works Mac "1".

PC "3" - Same issues as PC "1".

My Virtual Image of Windows 7 works fine, so at first i thought it might be something to do with PC "1" & PC "3", but then i read about SMB issues with Mavericks (link below)
http://www.macwindows.com/File-locking-not-working-on-OS-X-Server-with-Windows-clients.html

I really hope someone has a solution, as i'm running out of ideas.

Many thanks
Darren

Just to add to my comments.

The machines that are unable to connect to the fresh install of 10.9 & 10.10 server, work perfectly with our old 10.8 server.

squirrel - we have Yosemite server sharing files with Windows and Mac clients. Sorry I can't be of more help, just confirming that it can work.

Reading through the 'similar threads' list below...feeling lucky not to have issues.

Thanks for replying. Good to hear there is some hope!

Just didn't want to plough hours and hours of time into searching for a fix.

Looks like the issue is with the PC. Have reinstalled Windows and is now able to connect to edit files on Yosemite server without any "locked" messages.

I know SMB changed between 10.8-10.9, which must have caused this issue.

Found the problem. Was with our Node32 Anti virus.

PC's running v8 of Nod32 were not able to save docs. Earlier version of NOD were fine. As soon as i temporarily disable Nod32 v8, i was able to save files.

Hello. I can confirm that we saw the same problem... Word and PDF files opening up and the application indicating that it is only able to open the document as Read Only because it thinks the file is "locked for editing".

We are running ESET NOD antivirus - Business edition version 5.0225 and solved the issue by disabling the scanning of networked drives.

Note that another computer that was running Microsft's AV didn't have the problem.
