I can't seem to open any pdf's or images using preview in Yosemite. It says...The application “Preview” can’t be opened. Anyone else having this issue?

Not exactly; my copy of Preview seems fine, but if I open it via double-clicking on a PDF it opens the app but doesn't actually open the PDF...

I did a fresh INSTALL of Yosemite and trying to open a photo or PDF now means waiting for 1-2 mins while the beach ball spins and spins.. and spins... NOT RESPONDING in Activity monitor and also com.apple.goed is always not responding. Apple is just another half ass tech company now... FURIOUS after all the trouble I went thru to reinstall everything... total waste of time:mad:

In the middle of several books.
I just tested preview using a 124 MB PDF (on my late 2011 MBP) and it about 2 seconds or just under to open. The preview icon did bounce about 3 times before the PDF opened.

Yes. Generally the trouble you through to accomplish a "fresh install" is a total waste of time. Obviously you screwed something up big time. It would have been easier to just run the updater as Apple intended. I'm sorry you're in the state you're in.

Now that your machine is messed up. I would recommend you keep your backup safe. Boot to recovery mode, open Disk Utility, and erase your main drive. Then reinstall Yosemite and use Migration Assistant to bring your stuff over from the backup.
