Yosimite 10.10.02 and Mail App

After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.02 my mail does not open full screen and I cannot see any mail window.
If I double click on the app icon it moves to full screen
If I click the minimise it disppears
Is there any way to set the minimise window size so that I can see mail in a smaller window vs not at all?
