With the fourth beta of macOS Sequoia that came out today, Apple added a useful new feature to iPhone Mirroring.

When you connect your iPhone to your Mac, you can now make some changes to the window size, something that wasn't an option before. You can make the window bigger or smaller, changing the amount of screen space that it takes up on the Mac desktop.

There are only three total sizes, including actual size, which is the size of your iPhone's display, smaller, and larger.

The size options can be accessed by launching the iPhone Mirroring app, connecting to an iPhone, and then choosing your size from the View menu. There is no option to drag the window to resize, and you have to use the View options.

iPhone Mirroring is a feature that is designed to allow you to control your iPhone from your Mac, interacting with apps and receiving notifications while your iPhone remains locked and tucked away.

what.. why not allow dragging the corners to resize…
It’s probably just going to be pure software resize on the Mac side.. since iPhone will always render at native resolution

My M2 MacBook Air, I have the display settings set for slightly larger text. When making the iPhone Mirroring screen larger, it will go off the edges of the display. I wish I can just manually resize the iPhone window to what I want. Default is too small, larger is too large.

A week ago, having given up on Sonos's disaster of an app update, I installed an iPhone app, Sonophone for Sonos, on my iPhone and my Mac Mini desktop. (It's great, by the way; solved every one of the many issues I'd been having with the Sonos app.)

On my monitor, while usable, parts of the app are small. A larger virtual iPhone screen will make reading and clicking easier, then. But I fail to see why Apple's only offering three preset size options. It shouldn't be that hard to make the screen size infinitely adjustable, no?

Yeah, no it's not, not on my 13.6" MBA it isn't at least. It's about 15% smaller which is annoying as hell to my 44 year old eyes. The next size up jumps to about 15% bigger than my iPhone screen but at least the font is about the same size as my Macbook's now. Maybe the Actual Size setting is the case on the larger MBA, MBP and iMacs but it is absolutely not on the 13 MBA.

Same for me on my 16" 2019 MBP, actual is smaller than the physical phone, and larger is too big.

And of course we can make the iPhone display larger on our Mac by simply holding down 'control' while scrolling the Magic Mouse. At least that's what I do.

And on my Blink security camera display it allows me to switch to landscape mode meaning I can virtually fill my Mac display on my 32" monitor.

This doesn't work for me?

I'm actually wondering what would happen when using the continuity camera.
I use it a lot for online classes, so I've wondered what would happen if I mirror my iPhone like that.
Granted, I get the beta, but I'll rather wait for the Sequoia release.

It just tells you it can't mirror while the camera is in use.

Easily my only gripe with iPhone mirroring
Well that and the fact that Touch ID to Face ID doesn’t seem to work but that’s just a bug

I see people pointing out lack of access to Notification Center and control center but I can’t personally say I’m affected much by it
I guess they don’t want people to get upset by accidentally locking themselves out of iPhone mirroring by disabling WiFi?

Not that they can’t just do the same thing via the settings app but maybe Apple feels it’s easier to do that on accident with a toggle or something 🤷‍♂️
