They've basically been abandoned on all fronts by professionals except maybe some holdovers in music (logic), and even that's just because there are boomers like Reznor still making music. Final cut is an absolute joke. They should just make these free when you buy a mac.

So, the previously free Numbers, Pages, and Keynote will now only be available as part of the Creator Studio subscription bundle costing $129 per year (or $12.99/mn). And the free versions won't be updated beyond their current versions. Oh, I apologize. There's a ground-breaking update that adds a message saying they won't be updated further. It's available now and it's free! Get'em while you can!
There goes Apple's claim that their computers generally cost more than most of their competitors, because of all the free software they come with. Will their OSs be switched to subscriptions soon?
I think it's ironic that this announcement comes out at the same time as this year's significant increases in profit, profit margin, share dividends, sales, etc.
Any thoughts about what "Think Different" might mean in the C-suites and boardroom these days?
They’re probably trying to see how far they can squish pennies out of people before they lose all their stored up good will.

Not going to follow any accounts. But good to have access to some tips. Overall not happy with the switch to a subscription model.

Pages is still free. Im still using it. There’s just AI and other stuff thats behind a subscription. So essentially nothing changed

Yes, I agree. Nothing has changed and Apple says nothing will change unless we pay for the bundle. In other words, those free versions have reached end of life unless you pay for the bundle.

Customers were basically paying for the office software as part of the cost of the machine -- but now they want to take that away as a stand alone and charge more for it? Smells like greed. Now I'll have to find something else to use once the old software stops working because I don't want another subscription.

Meh. They’re all mature products. I’m not exactly waiting on pins and needles checking macrumors “i wonder what new features pages is gonna get?!”
