If you reserved your phone through the following link:

https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en...1&sourceID=email&rv=0&path=&iPP=U&appleCare=Y

You CAN pay full price for the phone instead of joining the Apple Upgrade Program. Seen this asked a lot of times. Just tell the specialist at the store that you want to purchase your phone at full price. It is also stated at the bottom of your official reservation confirmation email.

Where is this link from? I'm just curious, because I can't find on apples site...I was wondering what page lead to it (and why I didn't know all weekend when I could have been checking ha!) I remember hearing about people reserving watches and have never seen a link for that on apples site either.

You can't find it on the Apple site. I was given the same link when I asked an Apple Specialist through Apple Chat for reservations. It works though, works very well.

Did not work for me today.
Can you elaborate on your interaction with the Specialist in the Apple Store?
After making your reservation (on the same page) it says you may opt to upgrade through your carrier or pay in full. I don't see why the Specialist would have turned you away.

Wow, thats crazy. I had seen the link posted in another thread too, its just weird to me theres this link floating around where you can possibly find and reserve a phone, upgrade program or not... I can't even pretend like I want to upgrade and find the link on apple's own site without you awesome people having provided it here on macrumors. Then here one of our apple order phones is still sitting in processing until the 09/27-10/01. Meanwhile, people are walking into the store and buying them on a reservation (no waiting around for the store to open) when this link provides availability data. I feel kinda let down by apple, haha! We are certainly going to see if we can get the one phone we have on preorder sooner than its suppose to deliver, then cancel the preorder... just, man, I can't believe this is possibility and its something I couldn't find on apple on my own.

Did this twice today without issue. Bought a Sprint 7+ and a Verizon 7, and popped our two AT&T sims in them before turning them on for the first time, and now have two phones with both GSM & CDMA support. :)

dont you need phone number and last 4 of SSN to reserve ?

Did it today and the transaction was flawless. Got the black 7 plus and did not do the IUP. So grateful for this forum to find the link to do it. Meanwhile my preordered phone is still waiting to get here next week.

Hey .. you can that bottom of the email confirmation ?

Hope it works in U.K too ..

I did this today in store so absolutely correct. No question was asked.
Same. Had a nice conversation with the apple employee about our tattoos while we were waiting for someone to bring out the phone from the back. He scanned the sku, I scanned Apple Pay from my watch, and walked out with my new Plus in just a few minutes. Super easy.
Edit: I bought a Verizon phone to use on my cricket plan. Put in my cricket sim before turning on the new phone and everything works perfectly.

Does the page refresh at 12:01 PST time?
This morning the page updated at 8am local time. At least in the US.

Yep, did this today with a Verizon model and my AT&T sim!

I tried to do this in Georgetown store today. Made reservation but the staff would not let me buy the phone because I wasn't participateing in the iPU program. They claimed reservations were only available to iPU customers and that "the system" would not let them process the transaction because I was not trading in a 6s, even though I was to pay in full.

The store specialist said since I used upgrade option they refused to allow me to pay retail

Try another store maybe I did indeed do this today for the Verizon version

I thought I would have to but surprisingly, no. I guess it's only if you're actually ordering the phone online...not just making a reservation for one in-store.

Anyone have success with this in the DC Metro area?
Nope! Wasted an hour trying to get it done in Georgetown, but the staff insisted it could not be done unless it was iUP and withIn the four corners of an existing carrier relationship. Clearly there is no consistency.

My husband just made a reservation for one- it's strange they refused you, the email says you have the option to buy outright. I wonder why they refused. Sorry to hear.

We'll report back, driving an hour and half to get it for him, so hopefully no issues!
