Isn't that white SUV actually stopped above and ends up in it, too? How stupid is that?

Well the thing is, the Mercedes could have probably powered out of it and out of the way, but people just lock up and think they have no choice but to stand on the brakes....except those that jump out of their vehicles...

I would love to jump out of a car....all movie like and not get hurt..but thats in the movies.
It really is. Knew someone who thought they could safely jump out-- nope, crazy blood, stitches, and an ER visit later, he knows better now. :p

I'd ride it out in the car. Stupid behavior like this is not at all uncommon during the first snow of the season. People get better at driving in it as the winter progresses.

People have no idea what they're doing in snow...

Being that the wheels were locked and sliding really fast...I would have steered towards traffic and gunned it a little. A little handbrake in combination could have been effective.

Never "Jumped" out of a car, but once I was riding in the passenger seat with my uncle, and he took a turn, and my door flung open and preceded to eject me from the car. Luckily I was able to hang on to the car (I can't even remember what) I think it might have been the door. Anyway my feet were dragging along the ground till he finally noticed and stopped :) Luckily I was wearing work boots, or that could have hurt

That moronic girl who jumped out of the black car damn near got herself run over to avoid being in a car for a 10mph crash...

OMG... I my sister had a somewhat similar thing happen. She was about 4 or 5 years old and was fascinated by the car door. We were driving in a gated community with a speed limit of about 5 or 10 MPH. Anyways she decided pull on the door handle and the door opened pulled open with her hanging from it. We slowed down as safely and quickly as possible and got her back inside.

That is so stupid. As if you would even think of jumping out of a car to avoid a sliding crash into the back of another car at that speed.

I feel sorry for the owners of the cars though...especially the Jaguar driver. Iamgine what was going through his/her mind as their $100,000 + car slid into the back of another one..

Seems to me like it's probably somewhere that doesn't get snow often...

Nonetheless, that's a fairly steep hill to be driving on without chains.
Your obviously not from New England. The only vehicles still to use chains are mail trucks, fire, police, and other emergency vehicles.

Hardly, it was an S-Type. Sticker of maybe $48,000.
