I’m trying to upgrade my Mac late 2009 model from Yosemite to High Sierra.

I get this error.

I do not have FileVault enabled nor do I have the Sonos app.

Any help ?

Just look in the individual User folders that are inside the "Users" folder of your system hard drive.
Where do I find the ‘Users’ folder ?
Sorry, haven’t used this Mac in a while

Now, there are many folders in each user, which one do I look in ?

If there's a legacy FileVault user you won't see the other folders. If they all have individual folders, you don't have one.

Oh, I see a user with only on folder, and a .sparsebundle file, must I delete that file ?

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't do that. Can you delete the User from from System Preferences>Users & Groups?

I'm unsure about legacy FileVault User accounts but it seems like an Admin User should be able to nuke one from that preference pane.

I have multiple users because it’s a family Mac.

Thank you so much !

I don't have a sonos installed but got this popup "you may not install to this volume because it has legacy filevault users." After 4 days searching, here is how I fixed that and installed high Sierra.

Go to preference > users > make new admin users (i made two new users just in case) then deleted the original admin user in this case it was my first user account of my imac 2009. The original user was using legacy filevault version 1 which crashes with newer version filevault of high sierra OS 10.13.6. By removing the first user, you are removing the legacy filevault with it. Then follow on screen instruction to install High Sierra.
