That's a kernel panic. How long had it been since you shut down previously.

Oh, ok. Good to hear - I was afraid my hard drive was finally biting the dust. 7200 RPM for three years can't be easy on it... . Thanks for the replies though.

Well, I wouldn't say a kernel panic is 'nothing to worry about'… unless it's a one off and you don't see it again. It's a pretty serious crash to be having!

Apple provides a bit of info about them here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3742

True. But it sounds like he only had it once.
So that should be fine. Most times restarts solves the problem

Yeah first time I've ever had it, and my MBP has probably done 10,000 hours or something like that. Hopefully just a one-off.

Yep, as a one off it's nothing to worry about... unless you installed a device drivers recently (past few days) that could be the cause?

    kernel panics

    Hi,

During last year, I've had about 10 kernel panics or so, but now it happened twice in ten days, while I was just surfing on the internet. Is this something I should worry about or not?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Yes, I've run the short hardware test, but it didn't find a problem.
I've saved the data from the last two reports, is it possible to find what the cause is of the problem in that data or isn't it?

    grts

You could post the logs here (or attach them) and maybe someone with knowledge can look at them.
Or you could provide more detail about what Mac and Mac OS X you use and what happened before the kernel panic and what additional hardware you you have connected and so on.

    It's a mbp 2010, i5, 15 inch.
Some weeks ago I turned my computer off, closed the lid and I left it in my room but when I returned an hour later, I felt he was really hot (afterwards it said 95°C) and the fans were working hard, but when i opened the lid, the screen was all black. I couldn't do anything but push the button... Maybe this had to do with the kernel panics, I don't knwo...

this is the data of the last report:

... and there was no hardware attached. (the magsafe adapter was, but that doesn't count as hardware I suppose)
