Hi all - anyone else seeing this?? Ive tried Safari and Chrome and You Tube is "glitchy" and stutters and the sounds gets distorted. Ive never seen this....? Everything else works fine - The only thing I have done was update the RAM... Its the top tier base model no upgrades except the 3rd party RAM.

I ran a 4K YouTube video through Chrome the other day with zero issues. Haven’t had any issues running YouTube through “Safari Technology Preview” either.

That’s odd, certainly shouldn’t be happening. Try removing third party Ram, might be a bad GPU as the gpu plays a great deal in video playback playing YouTube content

Which third party RAM .. ?

Might be something running in the background ?

Anyway, don't use anything else than Safari. Safari is best optimized for macOS.
its OWC... everything else is working fine... and Geekbench is within range..... But guess what - It works now, So its intermittent... Hmmmm. I will also check content blockers as @buckrock suggested.

Not sure. I don’t think I installed one, but I may have ... where would I look ? ;)
Go under extensions in google chrome, i personally only use one extension and its Adblock to block Ads

You have the high tier 2020 iMac with i7 and 5500XT? 512gb SSD?

Yes that's the Config....Im not on You Tube a lot, I noticed this the other day and then again yesterday... and a few hours later the problem was gone.. Not sure what's up. I have Apple Care so I will keep an eye on it. the problem is gone now, by the way too....I dont notice any Ad Blockers

OK - Well, turns out that my problem "appears" to be THIS https://9to5mac.com/2019/07/29/macos-fast-video-playback-bug-fix-coreaudiod-video/ - Because this is exactly what I am seeing and the Force Quitting of Coreaudiod fixes it.

So, does anyone else have this?? By the way, I actually exchanged my original iMac for a new one and it also has the issue (I migrated the data over) so it def something with MY system. I will do a clean install of Big Sur when it comes out.

Yeah ... I have it too and found the "coreaudiod" fix awhile back which fixes it every time. No idea what initiates the problem, but that fixes it.
